every good girl does fine....

I suppose when you're 30something, bachelorette parties are, well, a little tame.

The mandate was dresses and heels which meant, for me, four-inch, 40s style peep-toed pumps, a sleek wrap dress and more cleavage than I'm used to baring for a bar full of backwards-baseball hat wearing boys.

RO and LC and I started with champagne at LC's and we reminisced and took pictures and got slightly tipsy. From there it was on to dinner where we made LC put on the veil and random people congratulated her and we wondered if someone would be bitter and jaded and say don't do it.

Once our entire party was there we feasted on over-priced, overly buttery food and really good dry martinis and we could see, out of the corner of our eyes, the basketball playoffs in the bar so during the last final seconds of the game, RO and I left our dishes, ran over to the bar, watched our team make a steal and score the winning basket with only four seconds left on the clock. And we jumped with glee and high-fived strange men and that was about as exciting as the night got because the next stop was at the bar next door where everyone but me drank cosmos and I got my sea legs back with glass after glass of water.

And then, after a short hassle with the valet attendant who insisted I'd validated my card with the wrong bar and wanted to shake me down for an additional $10, we were in bed by 1 a.m. There were no strippers, no wild party games, no drunken madness, just catching up and memories and talk of well, look at how we all turned out, not too bad, huh?

I only got teary-eyed once during the night. I think the tension between RO and me meant that I never really let my sentimental guard down and I hope I can past all that on Sunday because a good wedding deserves a good cry...
