----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey summer, how you doin'? It's summer, which means many things: Complaining about the brutal heat but occasionally loving the way it feels on my arms, my legs, my cheeks. The whir of the ceiling fan. Toenails in a constant flux of cherry red polish, chipped, then high-glossed again. Sunlight that never seems to fade even as the night wears on. This summer in particular means new things, too. We got a new kitten. She is almost four months old, sleekly gray and looks like a bear cub. She's breathing a lot of life into this house and T, our 12-year-old cat actually seems to like her, well a little anyway. I still feel Sophie every day but it is good to have a fresh young thing romping around the house, so intent on discovering, so enthralled with every new thing. Also, my friend A and I are actively trying to finish a draft of our book within a month. C. & I are truly and officially trying to have a child. I am enjoying working only part-time until the end of August and this means, in addition to the writing, making my way through a tremendous to-do list in what is likely a futile attempt to organize my life.
