----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- till the end of the world ... ...everything is so surreal right now. Classes canceled for three days so that we have time to move everything online. Faculty and students alike are freaking out. It may be until just after spring break. Or, it could last the rest of the semester, which is another 10 weeks. They haven't given us any specifics. Initially some idiot decided it was a good idea to fire all student workers and temporary classified because we couldn't "manage remote supervision." I have two student workers AND a temp classified employee and let me tell you we can handle the remote thing just fine. Anyway, after a fiery 'reply all' outcry on the college's email exchange THAT changed in a hurry, thank god. Imagine, putting hundreds of people (at my college alone) out of work because of this? Anyway, I have an overwhelming amount of work to do between now and Wednesday but at least we're stocked on toilet paper (wtf, people) and shelf-steady foods. We have Netflix and it's raining here so I guess we'll build a fire tonight and maybe break open a bottle of the good wine we've been saving. End times are weird. 4:08 pm - 14.03.20
